A graduate in Economics from the Madras Christian College, Radhika Vijayathilakan took up part time Japanese language studies while still at university way back in 1988, when learning Japanese was not what anyone wanted to do. Her first visit to Japan and not being able to communicate with the basic knowledge of the language led her to be trained as a professional tour guide with a license from the Ministry of Tourism. Then began her journey of understanding the language and the culture of the people of Japan. And then began her passion for the language and the love for the Japanese people. It has been a journey of 28 years as a freelance Japanese Interpreter. The fields she worked in have been varied - business, technology, tourism, music, astrology, ayurveda, yoga etc.
